About Warren Bergstein
Practical guidance grounded in decades of tax, financial, and estate planning experience.
Warren M. Bergstein, CPA, AEP, is a seasoned tax professional and Principal at AKM Advisors. With decades of experience helping individuals, families, and business owners navigate complex financial and tax matters, Warren has developed a deep understanding of how tax planning, estate strategies, and real-life family dynamics must work together.
In addition to his client work, Warren serves as an adjunct professor at New Jersey City University and Rutgers School of Business, where he teaches practical, real-world tax and financial concepts.
Why Planning for the Unexpected Exists
A serious personal health scare prompted Warren to examine his own financial and estate arrangements. He was surprised by how difficult it would be for his family to locate important documents, accounts, and instructions if something were to happen to him.
He began noticing the same pattern with many successful clients: they had advisors and documents in place, but the pieces were often scattered, outdated, or unclear to their loved ones.
This led to the creation of Planning for the Unexpected - a focused service designed to help families close those gaps.
Warren works alongside each client’s existing accountant, attorney, and financial advisors - never replacing them. His role is to act as a second set of experienced eyes, helping identify missing pieces, organize key information, and ensure everything is aligned and accessible when it matters most.
